Rev. Jeremie Turner, Sr.

Pastor Jeremie Turner, Sr. Pastor Jeremie Turner, Sr. serves as Senior Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC), in the Handsboro community of Gulfport, Mississippi. Pastor Turner was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Connie and John Turner. He was born to a family of three brothers and two sisters. Pastor Turner is a product of the Birmingham City School System. He was baptized at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church – Tarpley City.

While there he accepted his call to ministry and was licensed under the leadership of Rev. Charles N. Jackson, Sr., his Spiritual Father. Upon graduation from high school he attended Alabama State University; however, God reordered his steps and he completed his studies at Amridge University. From Amridge University he received his B.S. in Ministry and Bible and his M.S. in Ministerial Leadership from the Turner School of Theology. Currently he is pursuing his M.Div. in Christian Leadership from Andersonville Theological Seminary. After completion of his M.Div., his plans are to complete his D.Min. degree.

While in Montgomery he joined the Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church and became ordained under the leadership of Rev. Dr. G. W. C. Richardson, Jr., his Surrogate Spiritual Father. He has served in capacities of Associate Minister (Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church, and Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church), Youth and Young Adult Minister (King Hill Missionary Baptist Church) and College Ministry Spiritual Advisor (Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church) before entering into the Pastorate. God has afforded him the opportunity to serve as Pastor of Mt. Elam Missionary Baptist Church, Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Before coming to FMBC, he worked as a Hospice Chaplain while Pastoring.

In January 2023, God answered a long-awaited prayer and opened a door to allow him to serve the people of FMBC-Handsboro in a full-time capacity, a place that he plans to retire. He is married to Brittney Shelburne Turner, his best friend, and they have a family of six children – Amour, Bryson, Jeremie II, Brianna, Olivia, and Elijah. His wife, Lady Brittney as she is so fondly called, is an Educator and loves working with children.

His motto is, “I am not valuable because of what I own, but because of Who owns me.” His prayer is that he can touch someone along the way so that his living will not be in vain.
